The French Maritime Authorities have published 6 new decrees regulating the mooring of all vessels over 24 mt in the French Mediterranean Coast – Department of Bouches du Rhone and Var, in addition to the previous 3 decrees regarding Cote d’Azur and Corse.

These measures are taken in order to protect the Posidonia areas, where mooring and stopping of French and foreign flagged vessels over 24mt is now forbidden with the exception of some small designated areas.

Stating that many of the interested areas are among the most popular spots along the French Coast, some Yachting Associations are still in touch with the Authorities in order to understand more clearly how it will be possible to deal with this new regulation.
